    Educators’ Kibbutz Meets Religious Communities at Chief Rabbi’s Sukkah of Peace

    Every year during Sukkot, the Chief Rabbi of Akko, Yosef Yashar, opens his home to members of all of the diverse communities who call Akko home, as a warm sign of peace and friendship. This year, Mirit Sulema, Coordinator of the Akko Educators’ Kibbutz, was invited to address all attendees. Sukkot is the holiday of booths, in which Jews in Israel and around the world build temporary huts for a week to remember the time the Israelites spent wandering the desert on the journey

    Wheels for All: Ogen Members Roll Out Bikes for Needy Kids on Yom Kippur

    The Ogen Club for At-Risk Youth continued to galvanize its important and growing role in the neighborhood this year through a special community project on Yom Kippur. The high holy days are a unique time in Israel.     Lionesses of Akko Ring in the New Year

    The Lionesses of Akko , a women’s group consisting primarily of young immigrant mothers facilitated by members of the Educators’ Kibbutz, held a special event to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. After the traditional blessings on challah and apples dipped in honey, each member shared their own blessing for the group.
