Introducing the leaders of tomorrow
On July, 26 students from the Akko Shared Existence Center who just finished ninth grade joined the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement leadership training course.
The students, who spent all year getting ready for the course, were thrilled to be given their leadership badges at the closing ceremony. The ceremony officially marks their transition from students to young leaders. Among the students from the Shared Existence Center were Jews and Arabs who learned together over a week-long course on topics such as how to build groups, how to plan activities that promote peace and equality, and how to bring Jewish and Arab children together.
What's Next?
At the end of July, the eager new leaders will run their first activities at a Shared Existence day camp in Akko for 100 Jewish and Arab kids. Some of our longer-term partners will remember last year’s first-ever day camp that brought together 100 Jewish and Arab kids with the help of the Thomases Family Endowment.
We are super pleased to carry on this tradition together with the Akko Municipality and the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement.
